Reply-to: resource-guide-request@NNSC.NSF.NET Date: Tue, 09 Jun 92 14:06:13 -0400 Sender: mooers@NNSC.NSF.NET The NSF Network Service Center (NNSC) is pleased to announce a distribution of new and updated entries for the Internet Resource Guide. We have not sent out any new entries since the first of the year, and we are working, first, to catch up with updates to current entries, and second, to increase the size of the collection. This message is being sent to the combined FTP, PostScript and Text lists. This is an announcement message for the FTP (announcements only) list. 1. Test mailing. On May 17, we sent out a test mailing to the PostScript, Text and FTP mailing lists for the Internet Resource Guide. We want to thank all the subscribers who sent back changes or acknowledgements, 2. Distribution of new and updated entries. Today the Internet Resource Guide announces three new entries and 12 updated entries, each of which is available as a PostScript and a Text (ASCII) file. In addition, the ftp help file, "README", and the file-list, "index-resource-guide", have been updated. We will send the new and updated entries to the Postscript and Test mailing lists, starting today, with no more than three entries per day, to avoid overburdening mailboxes. These will be followed by "README" and "index-resource-guide". resource-guide/chapter.1 (Computational Resources) section1-9.ps (Update) PSC - The Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center) section1-9.txt resource-guide/chapter.2 (Library Catalogs) section2-18.ps (Update) NOTIS-LUIS - University of Illinois at Chicago section2-18.txt resource-guide/chapter.3 (Data Archives) section3-7.ps (Update) SDDAS - Southwest Research Data Display and Analysis System section3-7.txt section3-12.ps (Update) COSMIC - Software Distribution Center for NASA section3-12.txt section3-27.ps (Update) STIS - Science and Technology Information System section3-27.txt section3-32.ps (New) FEDIX and MOLIS - Federal Information Exchange, Inc. section3-32.txt section3-33.ps (Update) The University of Michigan Software Archives section3-33.txt section3-34.ps (New) Mid-RTTC - Mid-Continent Regional Technology Transfer Center Bulletin Board Section3-34.txt resource-guide/chapter.4 (White Pages) section4-4.ps (Update) [Discontinued] CREN/CSNET User Name Server section4-4.txt resource-guide/chapter.5 (Networks and E-mail Gateways) section5-2.ps (Update) [Discontinued] CREN/CSNET Network section5-2.txt section5-24.ps (Update) SWITCH - Swiss University and Research Network section5-24.txt section5-33.ps (Update) Fidonet Gateways section5=33.txt section5-45.ps (Update) OARNET - Ohio Academic Resources Network section5-45.txt section5-46.ps (New) ANS - Advanced Network & Services, Inc. section5-46.txt resource-guide/chapter.6 (Network Information Centers) section6-6.ps (Update) [Discontinued] CREN/CSNET CIC section6-6.txt resource-guide README (Update) How to Get and Use the Internet Resource Guide by FTP index-resource-guide (Update) File list for "Request: resource-guide" in the NNSC Info-Server 3. "intro1", "intro2', etc., contain the introduction and table of contents for Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc. As soon as we finished sending out the current set of new and updated entries, we will distribute the updated "intro.." files through the PostScript and Text mailing lists. We will also announce updates to the tarred and compressed files that allow you to FTP chapters or the whole guide at one time. See README for more information. 4. Wanted: New Entries for the Resource Guide. The NNSC is actively seeking new entries for the Resource Guide. If you know of a resource that should be included, please send a message to "resource-guide@nnsc.nsf.net" and we will be happy to send instructions and a template to the address you suggest. 5.
